Luxford's Double Take Wins

SpeedTeam/TwentyFour pro Annabel Luxford proved she’s back in business with back-to-back weekend wins at IRONMAN 70.3 Mandurah and Challenge Shepparton. Luxford lit up Australia’s early season competition with two key wins within seven days. She kicked it off on Sunday November 9th in Western Australia’s popular vacation city of Mandurah. Amidst a stacked field, she rolled into T2 hot on the heels of Anja Beranek. Despite rising temperatures, she managed to secure a lead amongst the quick and impressive group of Caroline Steffen, Nikki Butterfield and Rachel Joyce – a lead she refused to give up. The win was an emotional one for Luxford, who spoke highly of long-time friend and mentor Jackie Fairweather who recently passed away. “ She’s been a long time friend, number one a friend, but a mentor as well and the biggest take away that I got from Jac was to get the very best out of your self.” Luxford captured another win just days later at Challenge Shepparton. Despite a close match on the bike between Luxford and Radka Vodickova, Luxford got the jump out of transition and pulled out a strong lead on the run. Her 1:20 run split gave her a solid buffer on the rest of the field, putting her across the line over 8-minutes ahead of second place.
